Overview

The Sales section gives you a complete view of your Shopify orders with profitability tracking that goes beyond what Shopify offers natively. Revenue, costs, and profit are calculated per order so you can see exactly where your money goes.

Sales Dashboard

At the top of the page you’ll find key metrics for the selected period:

  • Total Orders - Number of orders with an item count badge
  • Total Revenue - Money paid by customers
  • Total Cost - Sum of inventory costs, transaction fees, and any additional costs
  • Total Profit - Revenue minus total costs
  • Average Profit Margin - Percentage across all orders
  • Returned - Total value of returned orders
  • Gross margin - Total profit as a percentage of revenue: (Total profit ÷ Total revenue) × 100%
  • Ad spend % - Advertising expenses as a percentage of revenue: (Ads expenses ÷ Total revenue) × 100%

Costs are broken down further into:

  • Transaction Costs - Payment gateway fees calculated automatically
  • Additional Costs - Custom costs you add to individual orders
  • Inventory Costs - Component costs based on your Bill of Materials. Orders without manually attached stock show an estimated cost calculated from BOM recipes; once real stock movements are attached, the estimated cost is replaced by the actual cost
  • Expenses - General expenses tracked outside of orders

Note: The Ad spend % metric only includes expenses from the “Ads” category. Create this category in Settings and assign your advertising expenses to it for accurate tracking.
